A Brief Overview
The homeowners possessed a stunning backyard with panoramic views, but intense sun exposure made the patio unusable for much of the day. Their existing, dilapidated wooden structure was not only stylistically dated but also raised concerns about structural integrity. The goal was to design and build a robust, beautiful, and expansive new pergola that would provide ample shade, create a true outdoor living room, and enhance—not obstruct—the spectacular view.

The Challenge
The existing balcony and pergola had aged lumber and outdated support elements that no longer provided the structural safety and modern aesthetics the homeowners wanted. The goal was to rebuild with durable, low-maintenance materials while elevating the style and ensuring long-term safety.
The Transformation
We performed a full rebuild using new pressure-treated lumber from Ganahl Lumber for the framing, ensuring structural integrity from the ground up. The balcony was upgraded with a Trex composite deck system, offering long-lasting performance, resistance to weathering, and a sleek finish. To complete the look and safety requirements, we installed a Muzata stainless steel railing system with modern cable detailing.
For the pergola, we refreshed the entire structure with new beams and posts, secured with premium black Simpson Strong-Tie hardware for both safety and style. The end result combines durability with contemporary design — a backyard upgrade that enhances both functionality and curb appeal.
